REFUELED

Six months or so ago, Refueled Magazine contacted me to do an interview for their "COLLECTOR" section of the magazine. Flattered, I accepted. Little did I know that their outreach was the beginning of what I hope will be a long and successful partnership. After photographing my house for the article and learning that I was once an English major, Chris Brown (editor in chief) and Cheryl Schulke (contributing editor) asked me if I'd be interested in joining up as an editor-at-large - free to fire off articles basically of my choosing. Not that long of a story short, I accepted, and not only will my interview appear in the new issue that comes out on Monday, but my first ever article will also show up. I'm pretty psyched about it. Here are a couple of screen shots from the new issue. Check back on Monday for more - and have a good weekend. It's gonna be a perfect one in Austin.

Allison V. Smith

Dallas-based photographer Allison V. Smith is, in my mind at least, on her way to legendary status. Featured the world over, she's got a style all her own and an eye for the ages. Whether using a cheap Lomo or a super expensive Hasselblad, her shots grab me like few others do:

Pinch

Pinch is the collaboration between husband and wife team Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon. Great names. Great looking furniture.

CPH Square

Copenhagen-based custom kitchen and bathroom designer CPH Square recently moved into a 1600 square meter (I read about them in a British publication and am too lazy to translate into feet) former sheet metal factory. Much like their goal to "reinvent the kitchen as a piece of furniture", they reinvented their office as art gallery, furniture showroom, and music hall. If more offices were like this one, the corporate world would be a much easier one for me to swallow:

I'm a freak for numbers. Not crunching them. I hate crunching them. It's the graphic quality that gets me. A weird obsession. I found these in random places:

The Clear House

Benjamin Hubert

London-based product designer Benjamin Hubert looks like he's about five, but he graduated from design school in 1984 so that makes him at least, I would think, 40+. No matter his age, his products are really great looking - especially the "Heavy Lights" pictured (first) below. They're made of concrete:
