Just saying those two words makes me think of the late 90's. And Outkast in particular. In this case, though, they reference the dirty South portrayed in Daniel D. Fells' photographs. The broken down buildings, the abandoned businesses, the ramshackle homes, the railroads of yesteryear. I'm a complete and total sucker for this stuff. Austin doesn't have it. And even small-town Texas is somewhat lacking for it. Texas is the Southwest more than the South. Fell captures the South as I remember it - or at least as I choose to remember it. And his website is called Grits N Collards. Click on these photos to blow up. They're better bigger.
